Another Chance to Dance

So I said practice was over...just kidding! Yes practice did end, but then we got another opportunity to perform and of course we had to take it.

At Bradley there are three dance organizations. We are the Bradley Dance Team, also known as the Bravettes. The Bradley Bravettes Dance Team is a collegiate dance team made up of dedicated dancers. Their style of dance usually consists of Jazz, Pom and Hip Hop. You can see the Bravettes cheering and dancing at home basketball games, as well as the annual Missouri Valley Conference in St. Louis. The Bravettes also represent Bradley University at many university and community events, such as Lighting of the B, Little Bravettes Kids Camp and dance team clinics. Go Braves!

Then there's Orchesis Dance Company. They are a club at Bradley that choreographs studio dance based pieces and performs them at two showcases they put on a year.

Finally, there's Vitality. Vitality is a hip hop group that performs at Lighting of the B and various other events on Bradley's campus.

Orchesis' showcase is coming up in April and they usually have "fillers." Fillers are groups that perform in between Orchesis' dances to give them time to change into their next costumer. Orchesis invited Bravettes to be a filler for their show which is now in T-3 weeks!

Myself, Abby and Molly are choreographing the dance and we start practicing in 2 weeks. (Thank goodness I'm dying to get back in the studio). The dance is going to be a pom dance and we're doing a classic rock mix. The choreography process can be challenging, but getting to work with Abby and Molly and putting all three of our ideas together will make it fun and keep our choreography creative. I've already been playing around with formations and some new tricks.

The choreography process will officially start within the next week and I literally can't wait. The three week practice hiatus was enough for me...let's get back in the studio!

Come to the Orchesis Showcase April 29th at 5pm on the Performance Court!

 Till next time -

  1. This is so exciting for you! I'm sure choreographing and teaching a new dance is very difficult at times but so rewarding in the end. Good luck!

  2. That sounds so exciting! I love going to the Orchesis Showcase. I become painfully aware of just how limited my motion is. Good luck! The Bravettes were there last year and it was great with the filler. It was a Brittany Spears tribute I think.
